Old
French mandolin banjo This is an old, long scale, French mandolin banjo. It is in good condition after restoration. There is a label in side which says…. ‘Sorrentina’ Manufacture

This instrument is now fully restored. The top is sound with the
original skin. It
has a mahogany
veneered back with NO repairs. It
has its original fingerboard, which has been
refretted. The tuners
and tail are originals, but the ebony bridge is new. It has
been completely re-finished with
Tru-oil. It has been restrung with ultra-light
GHS bronze wound classical
strings, and is now playing well with
a bright, ringing sound with good volume.
It has a very easy action.
Other than cleaning, I have repaired as follows… 1)
entirely re-finished with Tru-oil, a hard, light, modern varnish; 2)
made and fitted a new ebony and brass bridge; 3) renewed and dressed the
frets; and 4) fitted a new bone nut.
