| Almost any woods could be used for necks and heads, but many are just too rare or expensive. The following is a list of the most comman: maple, koa, mahogany, padauk, walnut and wenge. In order to make a good neck, the wood must be bought as a block, or made up as a laminate from several pieces for strength. Mandolin Necks: there are several methods of producing these, largely dependant upon the origin of the instrument. | |||
